And Life Goes By…

Yes, I have gone a AWOL in the blogging department lately – doesn’t it strike you how fast life goes by? Thank you God, that You are faithful and You stay the same yesterday, today and forever!
Before: we had our pool liner redone, as the old one was cracking and had holes in it. It was fun to watch the step-by-step process.

Gone.

Ripping the liner out.

We didn’t even need to refill it – a ready-made half-pipe for ripe striks and scooters was much more fun!

Of course, we just had to christen the new pool, even though the temperature was barely touching 17 degrees! I wasn’t brave enough to join them.

We took fish ‘n’ chips to the beach for dinner on the winter solstice. Lovely seeing the sun set over the ocean.

Cooking s’mores over the open fire! Love those sweet, sticky American inventions! Would love to try a genuine one someday…

We saw Granny and Grandad off on the Indian Pacific train from Perth-Sydney. An epic journey of 4,000km through farmland, the vast Nullarbor Plain, into bustling cities and over high mountains.

So yes, life is full and rich and we praise God for each new day and thank Him for his goodness and mercy. What have you been up to lately?

A Weekend with the Country Cousins!

For the long weekend a few weeks back, we hitched up the caravan and drove up to our cousins, the de Vries, farm in Geraldton. It was such a refreshing few days in the countryside, which is now winter-green, with our awesome cousins.
We left very early, while it was still dark and freezing! (Hence the dressing gowns!)

Watching the sunrise as we drove – glorious!

On the road again…

Image

We stopped for breakfast at Jurien.

Image

The road to Geraldton has some pretty parts, where it runs within meters of the ocean!

Image

A. Jenni had a delicious lunch spread waiting when we arrived. (A. Jen’s a great cook!)

Image

During the two days we were in Geraldton, we played Monopoly and other card games.

And built a campfire in the bush to roast marshmallows on.

I LOVE marshmallows! Can you guess why?

We also went to the Greenough Hamlet cafe for morning tea, which is where my cousin, Samuel, works. It’s a beaut little spot that serves the BEST milkshakes! If you’re ever up that way, I highly recommend going!

Laura enjoyed watching the friendly sheep, Heidi (from a distance!)

We had a very enjoyable time with our cousins and look forward to the next time we can go up to their farm for a visit!
